Palm Care Foundation’s recent visit to Navjeevan School in Turbhe Stores, Navi Mumbai, marked another significant step in the foundation’s mission to support underprivileged communities. On September 3, 2024, volunteer Pawan led the initiative, which involved meeting with both the Principal of the Secondary section and the Principal of the Primary section of the school.
Navjeevan School, a small but impactful educational institution, operates with government aid, which covers the teachers’ salaries. Importantly, the school does not charge fees from any of its students, making it an essential resource for the local community. The school serves around 160 secondary students and approximately 250 pre-primary children. Despite its age and importance in the area, the school faces significant infrastructural challenges, including the lack of a toilet, inadequate facilities for teachers, and the absence of a computer room for students.
During the visit, Palm Care Foundation distributed school bags and notebooks to the secondary students, ensuring they have the necessary supplies to support their education. The foundation also conducted an encouraging session with the students, emphasizing the importance of education and the possibilities it can create for their futures. The session was attended by the students, the Principal, and teachers, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the visit.
Recognizing the school’s needs, Palm Care Foundation is considering a strategic partnership with Navjeevan School to address these challenges. This partnership could involve the construction of essential facilities like toilets, improving teachers’ work conditions, and creating a computer room to enhance the students’ learning experience. By working together, the foundation and the school aim to create a better educational environment for all students, especially the girls and women in the community, ensuring they have access to the resources they need.
In addition to the immediate support provided, the foundation’s efforts align with its broader mission to uplift and empower underprivileged communities through education and essential resources.
